The 11th?Academic Conference of Mammary Disease was successfully held in Guangzhou

The 11th?academic conference of mammary disease?was held in Guangzhou during?May 17th to 18th. It’s?sponsored by Guangdong Medical Association and co-organized by the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, Experts?specialized in the field of mammatology from the United States, Japan, South Korea and China?were invited to give a series of lectures that cover a borad range of disciplines?such as Surgery, Internal Medicine, Imaging, Pathology, Radiotherapy?and Nursing.

At the beginning?of the conference, an opening speech was given by Professor Renbin Liu, the chairman of Mammary Branch of Guangdong Medical Association?and?the director of Thyroid and Breast Surgery?Department?of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, to express his appreciation for all attendees.

Then, Professor Barbara Smith from Harvard University?talked about her view in the development and future prospects of breast-conserving surgery.

Next, Professor Eisuke Fukuma, from Kameda Medical Center in Japan, delivered a speech about?the?present?and future of locoregional?treatment for?breast cancer.

After that, Professor Kaz Sato, from Tokyo West Takashima hospital in Japan, gave a presentation introducing the?paradigm shift in breast cancer surgery: from?total mastectomy?to partial mastechtomy.

At last, Professor Hoyong Park, from Kyungpook National University Hospital in Korea, shared his personal experience in plastic surgery for breast cancer and breast cosmetic surgery, and his view in?the prospect of future breast cancer plastic surgery.

At?parallel session I, in-depth discussion reagarding?hot topics?in?breast-conserving surgery, oncology?plastic surgery and endocrine therapy for?breast cancer?were carried out, and various points of view on each topic from different perspectives?were given by domestic and oversea top-level?experts.

At parallel session III, each young scholars gave presentation based on their?scientific achievement and clinical experience. allowing them to get inspiration from each other, therefore helping them to gain innovative ideas and thoughts.

This event has received?great attention –?12,700 viewers were watching the live-stream of the conference. ?We hope that this conference has made difference in buiding a platform for mutual study, and we would continue?working on developing treatment and therapy for?breast disease,?improving the quality of patients’ lives.
